Repose represents a rare partnership between the National Health Service, Academia and Industry.

The concept was developed by Occupational Therapists within the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff and quickly became established as a mainstay of the Hospital’s pressure relief programme.

Recognising the commercial potential for these effective and inexpensive products, the University Hospital obtained worldwide patent protection and commissioned the Welsh Development Agency to find a commercial partner to manufacture and market Repose - the link with Frontier was established. At the same time, the Wound Healing Research Unit at the University of Wales College of Medicine was asked to formally investigate the clinical effectiveness of Repose by means of a randomised controlled trial in comparison with a well known and successful alternating pressure system.

Frontier Therapeutics Ltd was formed by the Frontier Group of companies specifically to produce and promote the Repose range of products. Frontier designed and built machinery to produce Repose products and developed a unique pump which acts as the packaging for the products and also ensures inflation to the correct pressure.

The results of the randomised controlled trial conducted by the Wound Healing Research Unit demonstrate the efficacy of Repose products which are now used in hospital and community settings throughout the UK, Europe and across the world.

Repose products provide a unique combination in pressure relief - portability, value for money and proven clinical effectiveness.
